Haig Housing Trust Announce £1M Grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust on behalf of the Office of Veterans' Affairs
Haig Housing Trust is pleased to announce the award of a £1 Million grant from The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust who are delivering the Veterans’ Capital Housing Fund on behalf of the Office for Veterans’ Affairs. The Veterans’ Capital Housing Fund supports projects that contribute to the wider aim of ending Veterans’ homelessness by providing affordable and viable homes for Veterans.
This grant will be put towards a new development of 29 new homes and a Veterans Community Centre that Haig Housing will be building on its old head office site in Morden, part of its largest community estate in the United Kingdom. There is a vital need for extra general needs housing for Veterans and their families in the United Kingdom, especially in the South-East, and this will be an important component in helping end reduce such homelessness.
The award is especially well-timed, coming before the launch soon of a Major Capital Appeal to support funding towards this new development of homes for Veterans, tied also to the Centenary of Haig Housing in 2028.
In announcing this award, Haig Housing Trust’s CEO, Tim Stockings, said
“We are absolutely delighted to be awarded this generous grant by the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund on behalf of the Office of Veterans Affairs. This contributes to the significant investment Haig Housing is putting into Veterans’ housing and will, I hope, encourage others to come forward to assist us with our coming Capital Appeal.”
