Haig Housing Opens stage 1 of it's new development

Haig Housing Trust is proud to announce the opening of Kulbir Thapa House. Named in honour of Gurkha Kulbir Thapa Magar VC — the first Nepalese Gurkha recipient of the Victoria Cross for his bravery during the First World War.

Haig Chief Executive, Brigadier James Richardson welcomed attendees, including Haines Phillips,(Architects), United Living, (Builders), Forces Support (Donors), London Borough of Merton Councillors, and a large contingent from the Gurkha Community. Major Mani Rai cut the ribbon alongside Haig Housing Trustee David Williams.

Guests were entertained back in the Lawrence Weaver Institute by young Gurkha dancers, with refreshments provided by both Haig and the Gurkha ladies.
