We need the good folk of Kent to offer to put up overnight pairs of Walkers during the 3 days that the Walk will cross Kent, from Dover to central London.
Hosts will receive a special bag of The Long Walk Home branded items as well as a unique commemorative gift to recognise their generosity and hospitality.
We will need hosts to commit to the following:
- To host a pair of Walkers who will be of the same sex. Twin or two single beds are fine but not a double please unless you can offer separate rooms.
- To collect their Walkers from a nominated collection point around 1930 (7.30pm), noting that adverse weather conditions could delay their Walkers arrival at this.
- To provide their Walkers with a hot evening meal, shower or bath facilities (and, ideally, clothes drying or even overnight laundering), breakfast in the morning and return to the same collection point by 0830.
Hosts do not need to be Veterans but should be supportive of our Armed Forces and Veterans. We will not undertake formal vetting but will need you to read and sign the Accommodation Host Form.
At this stage we are asking for anyone interested in becoming hosts during the Kent stage of the Walk to put their names forward by completing and submitting the Host Offer Form
You would be welcome to offer to host on more than one night so long as the journey time from the collection point to your home is no more than 30 minute’s average driving time.
Collection/Drop-Off points will be as follows:
Wednesday 7th November: Dover area
Thursday 8th: Faversham area
Friday 9th: Gravesend area
You can speak to The Long Walk Home Event Management team on 020 8685 5786 or 5770 if you have any questions or need more information.
